A series of accolades for our Chianti Classico D.O.C.G.: three of the most authoritative and widely-read U.S. magazines, which are touchstones for experts and wine lovers all over the world, have in fact reviewed our wines and issued judgments that are decidedly complimentary. We are talking about Wine Spectator, Wine & Spirits and Wine Enthusiast.
Our Gran Selezione Vigneto di Campolungo 2011, for example, earned 90-point ratings from Wine & Spirits and also from Wine Enthusiast; the 2012 Blue Label (our blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot), on the other hand, was given an 87 by Wine Enthusiast, which also awarded a more than gratifying 88-point score to our 2012 Chianti Classico D.O.C.G..
The real high scorer, though, was our 2011 Riserva, with no less than 93 points from Wine Spectator and 90 from Wine Enthusiast. For the former, this wine is “beautifully balanced, with notes of cherry, leather, spice and underbrush”, while Wine Enthusiast underlines the elegance and structure contributed by the tannins, its powerful aromas that include hints of wild berries and menthol, and the very rich flavors on the palate, in which fruity sensations of black cherry and crushed raspberry mingle with notes of licorice and spices.
Both magazines – which are fundamental for many consumers in forming their opinions and guiding their buying choices – highlight the great aging potential of this wine.
For us at Lamole di Lamole, these results are not only a source of satisfaction, but also of encouragement to carry on along the path we have taken so far: absolute respect for the terroir, extreme attention to the environment and the sustainability of all our production processes, as well as great care in preserving all the qualities in the grapes that each year Nature entrusts us with.
